Fran Heath

In 1974, while working towards a degree in Recreation Administration, Fran was introduced to the pleasure of painting. She graduated in 1978 and began art classes at the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension, and Southwest Cultural Centre. Her artist-husband Mel Heath is her greatest encourager and critic.

Fran says, "I believe that paintings are an extension of self. I am positve by nature, and have a high energy level, which might be one of the reasons for my choice of intesified colours. I am fascinated by light and contrasts that are often the inspiration to express an idea or capture a mood. I love visualizing and planning how I want to interpret a subject. I have a passion for flowers and I enjoy nothing better than celebrating life through the beauty of the flowers in my garden, or any garden."
