Brian Hohner

While he doesn't see himself as a landscapist or wildlife artist or aviation artist all these elements appear individually or in combination in the paintings of Brian Hohner, much as they appear in the day to day experience of the Peace River Country where he lives and works. With every painting his goal is to fill the viewer with the same indefinable feeling of space and light which brings him to the easel each time. While the world is full of detail, the placement of every blade of grass or feather is of less importance to him than the sense and quality of light which makes it visible. Brian relies on the strength of his eye to bring forth color and definition in the shadows, creating paintings which draw the viewer into them.
