Angela McIntosh
Okanagan artist, Angie Roth McIntosh has a strong desire to connect people and communities using her art as a medium. She has been traveling and painting around the world with the support of her physician husband Rob and encouragement of children Kelsey and Kieran for the past 25 years. This has made her even more appreciative of the special beauty of the nature and culture of each region. This past spring, on her sixth trip to China she spent two and a half months in Asia.
In August she returned to her art studio in the north at Stewart BC. This ocean and glacier studded coastal region of the southern tip of the Alaskan Panhandle where she organizes inspiring paintouts with artists from around the world stands out in rich contrast to the warm desert landscape of her home in Penticton. She has made many trips to Mexico where she especially likes to paint in the area around Bucerias. In 1999 she travelled to southern France to paint and is looking forward to capturing more of the warm light of the Mediterranean in the future. She has enjoyed painting in the Jasper region with a group of Albertan artists and will do more plein air painting in the Rocky Mountains.
McIntosh left her studies in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia in 1983 to pursue her interest in art. She began her studies in watercolour with professors at the Central Institute of Fine Arts in Beijing in 1987. In recent years she has been also working in acrylics. Angie held her first solo show in 1989. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and was the Meadowlark Festival Artist in the South Okanagan in 2010 when she had an exhibit at the Penticton Art Gallery.
