Jeanne Stangeland

Jeanne was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and raised on a farm just outside of town. She started formal training in drawing and sculpture in 1974 at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Initial study was focused on life drawing. Jeanne moved to Alberta in the late 1970s and continued studying art in various media. In 1996, she started drawing horses with colour pencil on rag, emphasizing them in their natural habitat.

Jeanne is also known for work in pastel, watercolour and oil. Her life studies started in conte' and pastel and now you will also find Jeanne using pastel for landscape and still life. In 1997 she did several watercolour paintings of golf courses. Jeanne's oil paintings include portraits, still life, landscape and abstract.
